Renovation and archiving of historical structures is an ideal application for 3D laser scanning. The amount of detail captured by laser scanning allows for the fabrication of replacement components for damaged structures as well as for additions that are designed to incorporate the integrity of the existing structure.
Complete scans of historical structures are often completed to preserve an accurate archive. These archived scans can later be accessed if needed to be utilized in providing the documentation necessary to repair or replace structures that may be lost or damaged due to disrepair, fire or natural disaster.
