This mixed-use planned development consists of 1,200 acres of land located in central Palm Beach County, Florida. The development will include residential units, recreational facilities, specialty retail space, and a public school. Construction will include more than five miles of roadway and a centralized 70-acre lake. LandTech was retained to provide earthwork and material calculations for the entire parcel.
DESIGN
Using AutoCAD Civil 3D, LandTech modeled the existing and proposed surfaces, including the underlying rock surface utilizing boring logs, to calculate the amount of cut and fill necessary to construct the project. Additional calculations were completed to determine the necessary amount of top and binder asphalt, gravel, trenching, pipe, and other construction materials needed for the project.
DEVELOP
The earthwork calculations were presented for each phase of the project and were reported at 4-foot depth intervals. A surface model was developed for use in computerized machine control equipment for site contractors, thereby greatly reducing the need for on-site survey personnel.
